Collapse of ITV Digital
Late in the 2001/02 season, when it became clear that ITV Digital was close to collapse, and that Carlton and Granada, it’s parent companies, would refuse to honour the remainder of the multi-million pound contract with the Football league, fans all over the country stood up to protest at the betrayal of their clubs. TrustSTFC was very active in the campaign at both local and national level.
As well as attending the peaceful picket outside the ITV headquarters in London, TrustSTFC produced posters and T-shirts to highlight the supporter’s sense of injustice at the decisions of Carlton and Granada. As well as raising public awareness of the plight of the Nationwide league, the sale of over 100 T-shirts to Town fans and other supporters Trusts helped to raise over £200 for TrustSTFC funds.
